Chennai’s Nehru Indoor Stadium saw the film fraternity gather together on Saturday to applaud each other’s achievements in the year gone by. Mohanlal created a buzz by arriving late, direct from Kashmir where he’s shooting his latest flick. Tabu, Venkatesh, Junior NTR and Nayantara kept the Telugu film fans ecstatic, Vijay and Rashmi from the Kannada film industry kept Sandalwood’s flag flying high and Madhavan, Karthik and Suriya and Kushboo entertained the Tamil crowds amply.
Aa Dinagalu won the Best Kannada Film award which was received by Sayed Aman & M.S. Ravinra; it also won the Best Director award for Chaitanya. Duniya brought the Best Actor award for Vijay and Best Actress award for Rashmi.
The Best Music award went to Mano Murthy for his work in Milana. Manohar V. won the Best Lyrics award for Pallakki. The Best Playback Singer (Male) award went to Sonu Nigam for Milana and the Best Playback (Female) award went to Nandita for her work in Duniya.
