Aakul Balaji, who hit big time with his first film Aathmeeya, is ready with his next venture Banni. Aakul started his career with serials and had a long struggle before foraying into mainstream cinema. The actor had his first big break when he was offered Aathmeeya, which became a super hit. Though it was Banni that he signed first, somehow Aathmeeya was released first.
Banni, termed as a love story set in the backdrop of the Banni festival, is all set to release soon. Most of the shooting took place in North Karnataka. The heroine Kasturi was chosen for the role because she could speak the North Karnataka dialect very well, since she hails from there.
Aakul has just finished acting in Paramesha Paanwala with Shivrajkumar under the direction of Mahesh Babu and he has signed Gagana Chukki with Bhavana Rao which will start shooting very soon.
