A postal stamp with the picture of Dr. Rajkumar, the iconic figure in Kannada films will be released soon in his honour by the Central Government. This information was revealed in a letter written by the State Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Raja  to M. Veerappa Moily, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and Central Administration Controlling Commission President.

Union minister Raja mentioned in his letter that the postal department has already given their approval for printing the stamp to honour the most popular singer-actor of Karnataka.

Dr. Rajkumar has won national and international acclaim for his contribution to Kannada Cinema in his long career. He passed away at his home on April 12, 2006 following a cardiac arrest. His three sons, Shivarajkumar, Raghavendra Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar followed his path and are established actors in Sandalwood. Dr. Rajkumar抯 wife Smt. Parvathamma Rajkumar is a known film producer (Sri Chakreswari Combines).
