Kannada film industry's promising writer Ranganath, who has also worked as a co-director of many films for directors in films like Sadhu Kokila and Shivamani, is now an independent director. His first directorial venture, Gulama, was launched recently in Kanteerava Studios. This film is produced by Ramu Enterprises, which has been following a practice of launching its new film just around the time when one of the films produced by the banner is getting released. Ghulama had a gala launch just a few days before Gooli was released.
Prajwal Devaraj, Sonu and Biyanka are the key characters. It may be just a coincidence, but Prajwal's father Devaraj was the lead actor in many films produced by Ramu. The first film that brought together Ramu and Devaraj was titled Golibar, which turned out to be a hit.
Ranganth, who has changed his name to Tushar Ranganath is realising his decade-old dream to become a director. Though he had joined the film industry as a writer and assistant director, he had always focused on becoming a director. And Ranganath says he is very happy that producer Ramu has given him a break as a writer and also as a director. In this film, he has many responsibilities besides directing the film. He has also written the lyrics for the songs.
A confident Ranganath said that his film will bear the stamp of his talents. Guru Kiran is the music director and Shekhar Chandru is the cameraman. The film will be shot in seventy days.
Inthi Ninna Preethiya fame Sonu is one of the heroines. Another heroine Biyanka said that her role has many shades.
Prajwal says that his role in Ghulama is different from all the films he had acted so far.
