Once upon a time, Bangalore boy Rohit’s dream was to meet Rajinikanth; he ended up working with the superstar for 65 days!! Rohit B., grandson of veteran film producer and director S. Ramanthan, is a mechanical engineering graduate from KSIT and a stage actor. His childhood passion was to become an actor and as he grew up, his dream changed in to that of becoming a director.
When director P. Vasu took up the project Kuselan starring Rajinikanth and Nayantara, S. Ramanathan introduced Rohit to the director and he accepted the offer to work as an apprentice in the film. At 22, Rohit was the baby in the Kuselan team. His main jobs were to check the action and costume continuity in the scenes, handling the clap and checking the editing reports of the movie.
Working with Rajini for 65 days was a big bonanza for Rohit who dreamed about meeting Rajinikanth just once. He remembers that Rajinikanth spoke with him in Kannada in a casual and cool manner. He also remembers that Rajinikanth is a down-to earth person; on the sets, he was very friendly to everyone. He would put his hand around the unit members in affection regardless of their occupation.
Rohit has acted in 20-25 street plays and after his experience in working in Kuselan he is quite confident about making it as a director one day.
