Review

Ramesh Arvind’s third directorial venture, under the Vishista banner, headed by G. Raghunathi is no accident. The taut screenplay grips your attention and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ramesh Arvind’s research has paid him rich dividends. This is a family entertainer different from other routine films in theatres.

Sawanth (Ramesh Arvind) is an average person married to Vasudha (Rekha), a courageous woman and a hard nut to crack. While investigating a very dangerous case, she is murdered along with her friend Bushan (Pathy Iyer), and the double murder is made to look like an accident. Sawanth steps into the investigation and finds that the clues lead to something else. Tensions play the main part in an oft-twisted story of betrayal and murder in Accident.
This film’s suspense element, necessary to keep the viewers’ curiosity, will be lost if the storyline is revealed further. Suffice it to say that in the investigation that follows, the hero faces suspense, more mysterious murders, puzzlers and mistaken identity conspiracies; only his intelligence helps him to find and decipher the right clue.

Ramesh Arvind’s role, playing the young husband mourning the loss of his beautiful wife, is moving. His message on social issues is an integral part of the film and doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. The quality of this film is enhanced with the right choice of actors, locales, background score and technical experts.

The director extracted a good performance from Rekha. Pooja Gandhi is lovely. Thilak, Rajendra Karanth, Sudharani, Mohan, Longa Mahesh and Balaji have given good performances. Rajendra Karanth steals the show.

Rickey Key, the latest composer in Kannada Cinema, has dished out some lovely tunes that establish the mood. G. S. Bhasker has helped maintain the pace with his masterly camerawork. Bhasker, who started out with the Oscar-winner Gandhi, is an underutilised gem of cinematography.

From the opening score to the end credits, it a pure Ramesh Arvind film. The right combination of producer, director and actor can do wonders and Accident is a stellar example.

This is a must-see movie.
